I had pulled my left calf muscle on the Wednesday before the race and was very concerned that I wouldn't be able to finish the race. On Saturday I went out for a very slow 1.8M run and was aware of a weakness. I used compression socks and a heal lift in my left shoe. I started out slow with a 9:30, then 9:09 and progressively quicker, with some miles around 8:30 to 8:40. At 11 miles the hills were over and I new the rest was totally flat. I shifted up a gear and ran the last couple of miles at 8:00min/mile pace. I was please with a new PB.
