Notes & Comments

Stockport 10 Mile Race: Very cold and icy on the ground; porridge for breakfast; bites of energy bar pre-race; set off harder than in previous races, attempt to pace others; mile1 faster than planned; mile2 very difficult, strong calf aches and plantar fasciitied foot pained, which forced slower pace; post-mile4 had an icy offroad downhill; beautiful views; grabbed 2cups of water at water station, drank 1, other was icy; uphill at 5.5miles was trickier than expected; overtook and sped up at first, then overwhelmed as it went on; second part of uphill and struggling, very sharp knee and calf pains; forced to walk for appox 30secs; lots of slippery frost on ground; music helped keep a determined pace; 8.5mile steep climb wasn't as bad as previous one; ran along a Fetchie post mile9 marker; last mile felt very difficult on lungs; overtook and managed a sprint finish; post race, water and banana, then lunch with Fetchies at TGI's.
