Leipziger Auewaldlauf 10 km
Stryd wanted me to run this at 192 W or 101% of CP. I had my doubts that I could do that when the outside temperature was below freezing but I tried. After the first 500m, I realized that I couldn't bring CP above 185 and tried to hang on to 180s. Another km later, even that wasn't working, I had trouble breathing and my hands and toes were numb, I couldn't even feel the surface so felt a bit unstable at times. By the time I hit 2 km, my lungs were complaining so I ran with my buff over my face which helped some. By 4 km, my hands started thawing which felt like taking them out of the freezer straight into in a toaster. Damn you, Raynaud's! I was in a lot of pain until about 6 km when my hands were finally warm again and I just had the 'ants crawling over my skin' but I can deal with that. Annett stayed with me during the difficult stretch, thank you for that. Around 8 km, another runner overtook as and Annett and I thought she might be competition in the age group so Annett took off after her and caught her. I watched the duel from behind as I had to stick to normal tempo pace, couldn't muster race pace at all. I'm glad it's over and I won't have to race in freezing temperatures again anytime soon.
