Heart rate came from who knows where?
Two Bays 56km race. Wave starts a good idea. No funneling through areas and having to walk. Started a bit too fast. Was aiming for 7:30-8:00/km pace for first half. After about 8km slowed my pace down to conserve energy. Except when going downhill on long stretch of road; for steeper part let gravity take me faster. Had bars, skittles and cliff bar. Ate something every hour though didn’t want to after about 3 hours. Added electrolyte to bottle of water after about 4 hours. Only one tablet. Tough to keep going. Had to resort to mantra. Tried to run more often on second half when could. Just starting by trying 10 steps and counting them. Seemed to work well. Was worried about cutoff and halfway point and towards the end. Ran slowly in flat and downhill for last 8km. Before that had been doing quite well running then stopped to get stones out of shoes. Close run thing. 20km to go and feet and legs sore, including knees. Made it finally, 6 minutes under cutoff.
