Took the new bike out again to try and get used to it and to see how my arm coped with a longer ride on different surfaces. The arm got sore on the rougher trails and all the bloody speed bumps in Mossley so will give it a rest before trying again. Bike felt good though, definitely stiffer and lighter than the old lump.
