I can't win. Slept in the back room to escape the early morning car driver at the front, but instead woken up umpteen times by my neighbour's drooping gutter overflowing with the night time rain!

Have you thought about getting something that gives you a background noise in your bedroom so that outside noise is 'hidden'? We have been using a fan to cool the bedroom which hides any outside noise.
With my noise hypersensitivity, that wouldn't work either . (The fan would keep me awake! ). It is a shame that too many people are inconsiderate about making noise during the night.
Oh Yes unfortunately there are a lot of people who do not consider others at any time never mind during the night.
