Spring marathon 2020

Beautiful route lit by a nearly full moon then the rising sun. Great countryside roads with a nice addition round Kemerton and Bredon.

Eased into things over the first three miles, something I’d never do in a race. Through halfway in 1:31 or so, so a negative split required for the sub-3. Felt strong towards the end - a caffeine gel and the more gentle start perhaps helping. Something like 2:58:50 on the clock, but thought it best to let it tick over to 26.3. Pleased with that considering the 1000ft ascent and lack of taper. Oh, and, obviously, a distinct lack of other runners!

Hassle free marathons available at a bargain rate, and still got to don the AA vest with pride.
