Normal calf pain stretching from 2nd mile, but pains didn't go away. Had good 2nd quarter until the boggy section last couple of miles to half-way. Ran all the way 1st half apart from long ramp up to main road.
Hips in significant pain from 1/2 way. Had to walk for next three miles. Tina McLeod gave me some paracetamol at mile 18, then after passing JRitchie at road crossing legs started moving again. Ran-walked last 12 miles to end, using run 0.8 miles, walk 0.2 miles.
Bit of fun on re-entering Duthie Park - had to run surprise "victory lap" round the park. Didn't seem very fun at the time though
All in all, pleased with the finish, as training was rubbish and body suffering last few months. Decision to stop Marcothon and reduce frequency of training runs vindicated. Will continue to do longer mid-week run and long weekend run, time on feet.
Need to lose some weight and improve my diet though. Ran at 13st12, a stone heavier than last year, and 42 minutes slower...
