Good questions. I'm defaulting to a lot of easy runs, keeping the heart rate in zone 2. I do have a marathon on Sunday (I see you are too but a different one). I don't really want to do a taper (feel like I will probably taper a little). And yes, this is mainly for WSW.
I guess my tapering will just be a slight decrease in volume and intensity. I wasn't sure whether to tag this one as medium long run or as easy.
That sounds like a good forecast. And Westernport is quite a handicap, as well as farmland to the south. How are you going with WSW? Great idea regarding spreading the word. I found fetchpoint initially to be the incentive for me (as well as 'Run The Sum').
It will probably take a few weeks for WSW to become competitive. That’s impressive for run the sum (I created a
stravagroup for that). Despite multiple days of just getting under the wire by starting a run just before midnight I haven’t broken that streak yet and started in June. Your planned ultra looks exciting. Is it your first one? I’ve only done one, two bays 56k, and that was this year. I’m going to do it again in two months. It seems there isn’t as much interest in the Run the Sum as I’d have thought. It seems a great way to be consistent and has provided me with a great training base. Other priorities in my life had reduced my running to about once a week, just a parkrun, so Run the Sum was a good bridge to better running. Incorporating active recovery is definitely needed for that. Good luck for your ultra. It looks like it’ll be a great adventure with lots of elevation change. The mountain ultras do tend to being a bit pricey from what I’ve seen. I would say we might see one another at Two Bays, but with the starting lines being in different places it might be difficult (the course also being designed so that the two races don’t collide too much). And definitely a beaut run.
That's an impressive streak. Lucky for us he isn't on RTS! If you have lots of sugary drinks then we might be able to catch up. Last time I took about 6h40 (I was very happy with that). Probably a lot longer than you'll take for the 28k. 🤣
