Notes & Comments

This proves that the resolution on Garmin GPS isn't good enough for a track that's only 30m x 30m with twists and turns within that and only taking 15 to 20s to complete. Oh well, worth a try. Great day at the outdoor track with DDRCC. Started in the 2nd heat of 3 in 2WD, including a couple of trucks and kids in the lowest heat. So I was in a heat with decent folk. But I missed half my first heat because I was taking pics. Then 8th and 8th. I needed something similar or a bit better to get top 7 for the A final. But I was worse in the 4th heat 10th and hence qualified 2nd for the B final. Overtaken by Fraser from 3rd at start, but Stuart who was first had a couple crashes so I held on to second. That's not bad for me. Mostly stayed out of trouble. Disappointed with the crashes at end of 4th heat when I was going a bit better. My straightened steering was a bit weird. David McL had helped me straighten it on Saturday with a few turns of steering arms. Small left, so still trimmed right about 10. But by 3rd heat I had to take trim off and eventually trimmed it left?! Weird. Meant I wasn't quite straight on 4th heat, and it def put me off a bit. Anyhoo, good fun, no mechanical probs, car going fine. Hope to be a bit more positive at Dumfries next week. Then indoors for first time in the evening. Alan McI, James D and I went straight up and go chips. Met Lee and some other indoors only peeps. Davie H came with a buggy, so 4 of us trying indoor tyres on them. Was good fun. So much grip, slower and you have to be quite precise. But the cars are far too big for the track. Hadn't got my GT12 from Derek set up yet, so was just going to watch. Really good racing, but wasn't sure I was interested. But then I got a try of John McL's and it was great fun. Fits the track much better obv at 1/12th scale. So that's it. I'm going to get the GT12 going too. Not sure about 6pm to 9pm, that's past my bed time on a Sunday night! There's also Broxburn on a Fri night?! :-) G
