Rapefield Recce

"Don't worry about the shopping - enjoy the sunny weather," said Fiona first thing, before I stepped in Jeremy's car to pick up Jacqui on the way to recce part of the Andover parkrun to Hurstbourne Tarrant 5 inter-race jog.

It had turned grey and, by the time we were getting out of the car, had started to drizzle. Half way to the field we wanted to see, it was absolutely pouring down and I was glad not to have been encumbered with too much in the way of unnecessary clothing (such as, inter alia, waterproofs).

The field had had a path created across it in a dead straight line to the entrance to the woods at the north end. The aforementioned woods turned out to hold, as they often have in the past, a lovely collection of bluebells and wood anemones, so that was a nice compensation for the rain. Then the sun came out, which was even better.

"Oh dear," I moaned at Fiona when I got home. "Are you complaining about the heat again?" "No! It's been absolutely pouring down!" "Oh? I hadn't noticed." I was even back in time to go shopping.
