Stockport 10 miles. Nearly 4 mins faster than last year - pleased with that
There was an end-of-term feeling about this one. The last serious race of the year, lots of friends to catch up with, and I'd set my 10 mile PB a couple of weeks ago - I knew I wouldn't beat it on this tough course. I was looking for around 1h8m - 1h7m would be really good. Haven't got the official time yet, but I might have even snuck under that best-case time. (Update - I made it ... just: 1:06:59 official
)
Not that the running was easy. The hills make this a really challenging course - and I really suffered on them today, losing at least 20 places on the three climbs. Despite that, this is a really fun race, with lots of different surfaces, and sudden changes of scenery, from main roads to farmyard and open country, then housing estates, parkland, and a bit of a turn on the track too.
Nice to get another age-cat win and a new pair of Hoka shoes, just as I'm about to send today's pair out to grass. I'll definitely be back for this one next year.
