Notes & Comments

Woeful performance at Glasgow half, aka Great Scottish Run. No excuses, probably just not enough tempo, longer run training at pace. I guess intervals, parkruns and weekend hilly plods do not a fast, flat, road marathon racer make?! No sh*t Sherlock?! Lovely day. Went early, cheered on 10kers, got a Costa, used loos, sun came out just as we started, enjoyed the warm up, the atmosphere, some banter. Steady up the hill St Vincent Street (too steady?) but then as it leveled out just nothing there. Knew in the 2nd mile that it all felt just too hard. Tried pushing on a couple of times as can be seen, but just nothing there. When a guy came past me in the park I tried to go with him (mile 8?) but it felt like a 10K. Glutes tired, hams tired, calves threatening to cramp, just plodding along. Hey ho. Great result for Phil from club 1:23:22 big PB and Jon close to PB, so no excuses regarding conditions, it was lovely all round. Great day generally, cos I met up with my boy after and had nice burger and chat in pub in town and lots of hugs. But it really feels rubbish when you want a good run and it doesn't happen. First time ever?! Welcome to tough racing?! :-) G
