Berlin Marathon

Great race but didn't quite go to plan. Started cramping all down my right leg from my sacroiliac joint to and including the arch of my foot from about 25k. Essentially hobbled and ran-walked from about 30k to the end.

Really disappointed as was really hoping for, and was in the shape for, a sub-2:45. Oh well, maybe next time.

The job in hand now is to try and work out why I cramped as this isn't the first time it's happened in a marathon. I suspect a couple things are to blame: psychological (I def put too much pressure on myself for this race), not enough sleep (due to the pressure and anxiety), possible slight dehydration and an electrolyte imbalance or deficiency.

I think I'm going to have to experiment a bit more and definitely start racing marathons more often than once or twice a year, especially if I want to dip under 2:45. I might have found a small race for a month's time too.
