Notes & Comments

Arse B*llocks p**s. I need to sort out my races over half-marathon distace.

Thighs started tightening up from quite early, but just presumed they'd sort themselves out. Was feeling good and bouncey and fast until 18 miles. Walked the entire of the 22nd mile after losing count and coming up to the 22 mile marker thinking it would say 23 and being hugely depressed when it didn't.

Half way: 1:58
2nd half: 2:09
20 mile: 3:01 (so 66 minutes for the final 10k.)

So a crappy finish... possible reasons for this:
1) suffering with a mild cold, slight chest tightness
2) pre-race carbo loading - did I do enough during the week? My breakfast didn't feel big enough on Sunday.
3) gels from the flasks - was I getting as many carbs as I would from sachets?
4) slighty too fast 1st half ( 2-4 minutes)
5) accelerating too soon (got over excited around 17 miles when I saw everyone I think)
6) Got a crappy nights sleep on Saturday night.

Overall a big dissapointment given how well I _thought_ I'd been training. I would give half a garmin to know whether it was training, pre-race prep or illness that caused me to fall short of my (reasonable I thought) goal.
