Bristol to Bath Marathon - 32/4000?

Really pleased with the run today - couldnt decide on what approach to take to halfway on what was a flat first half and a very hilly second half. In the end I went with feel and feel got carried away with the faster runners and saw me go through halfway in 1.24.47.

I felt alright at this point, not comfortable though and this wasnt making me relish what was still to come over the second half of the race. The hills came thick and fast, by the time I had finished one and nearly recovered another one arrived and the flat speed was therefore taking a big hit as well. I managed to keep it together, though and am pleased that I faired better than most on the hills.

Everything felt tight over the last 5 miles and had a lot of sore spots, my biggest fear was felt like might cramp and I knew that that could see the end of the sub 3 hour goal, luckily though I remained cramp free and got to the finish.

Was very fortunate to have various random support over the first 10 miles, before regular contact from Charlotte, Luke, Tim and Adele which got me to the finish! Will never be a PB course, but was a well organised event and I will do it again should they run it - whether I would next year though I am not entirely sure.

Absolutely brilliant performance Pete! Congratulations on achieving the sub 3 hour target.

Well done on the time and the position. Outstanding. 10 minute difference first and second half with the hills and fatigue is very tidy. Well done sir.

Great work Pete. It was brilliant to watch and seriously impressed how you held it together.
