John Fraser 10, Club champs - PB!
The plan was to run 10:45 - 11m/miles.
Instead, I decided to run on 'feel.' I don't like hills and have had a few bad runs recently so I wasn't expecting much.
I glanced at my watch twice in mile 1 and knew I was going too fast but it was downhill so went with it. I didn't then look at my watch at all until I was over the hill at mile 9 and then only to see how far I had to go. I've also turned the beep off my watch so I had no idea how close to the miles I was.
I felt/knew I was running faster than planned and I did keep pegging my pace back because I knew the course profile. But I was comfortable and didn't feel the need to stop at any point. I've been trying some new mental strategies that appear to be helping (as is the reduction in heat).
So, pleased with this - a massive PB, I ran it all- including the hills, I felt ok for all of it.
Lovely course on a lovely day. The long uphill from mile 2 to 4 was not too bad, the long downhill between mile 6 and 7 was fantastic, but the cheeky hill at mile 9 was a bit of a test.
I enjoyed the WJ bus trip too - fantastic, social day - with a good run achieved.
UPDATE: PB by 7mins 20 secs. !!!
