Newtons Fraction Half Marathon!

Write up to follow................its Mothers Day! I'm having a rest :-)

I'm going to put this down to runners brain!

I wanted to show HH my splits and average pace when I pressed the wrong button on my garmin and deleted my run........gutted! What a plonker! All that data gone! But tis done so hey ho will make it up from memory :-)

Aim today was to try and do 9.30 m/m and see how I felt. Started off for the first few miles doing between 9.26 and 9.20 and felt fine. Really like this route and running down by the canal. I managed to catch up with Helen who has been suffering with an injury and is usually way in front of me at races so was lovely to run with her most of the way.

Managed to run up the first hill without any problems and felt fine. During mile 7 I still felt comfortable and was enjoying the run so decided to up the pace to try 9.15 m/m. I remember seeing 9.06 and 9.13 on my garmin during some of these miles. Then after mile 10 we had the second hill. I was determined to still run up this hill and was pleased to manage it. I over took everybody else walking and they didn't over take me back after, I just kept going, still feeling fairly comfortable. The last couple of miles were down hill in parts I think and I remember seeing between 9.00 and 8.52 on my watch - i love to see 8's!! During the last mile I caught up with Elaine and could see 8.30 and entering the stadium together I saw 8.21. I wasn't sure how long I could manage that as was feeling it but think I kept the pace to the end :-)

Really pleased with the end result and wasn't expecting it, my second fastest half marathon!

I ran this race three years ago, my second half marathon, with Andy, his first. I had a slight calf injury at the time so took it steady, but today I managed to beat that time by 30 minutes, you can't ask for more than that :-)
