Wokingham Half Marathon

This was the first test of my London Marathon training programme and I'm pleased to say it went really well.

I held back at the beginning trying not to get too carried away, especially as I know there's a bit of a hill between the 16 & 18k mark (we go down it between the 6 & 8k on the way out) but also to try and keep a pretty consistent pace for the entire race that was slightly quicker than marathon pace.

This ended up working really well and all but one kilometre was at or under target marathon pace - that one kilometre was where I had to stop to yank the inner sole out of my left shoe as it had ridden up and was flapping round my ankle.

Finished pretty strong too.

Glorious sunny weather too making it perfect for racing.

I'm pretty confident now that my marathon training is on target. I was a little apprehensive before today. Looking forward to the next few months of hard training now.
