ugh, started OK, felt comfortable walked 1st water station and mile 5 hill as planned. At 8 miles was feeling OK and at 9 still felt I could pull it back for a course best once the ups were finished with. Mile 10 and my maths said it would be tight and I'd have to work hard and that was it, struggled from then on
The temporary road surface didn't help, but no excuses - too few long runs without walk breaks and serious absence of anything tempo like .
