2014 Virgin Money London Marathon, new PB of 3:05:15, 4 minutes off last year! Very dramatic! Went off by feel this year, saw Doug at 12 miles and was 1:28:0x at half way, I knew that was faster than planned! Still it looked as if there was a nice buffer built up. Conditions were getting hotter in second half and I could feel the struggle kicking in at 20, started counting up to 100 repeatedly for the mental distractions to finish which was having an effect. Had a clipping incident at 22 miles upon subconsciously hearing my name shouted out by AndyG, not sure who was to blame for clipping but it happens! Never saw Andy but he said I spent 30 seconds helping the guy get up on his feet, he was going to be trampled by the hundreds of runners behind him! It was a selfless thing, I knew there was going to be a PB regardless and GFA was likely to be renewed!
