BlueWombat o.k., I must be bonkers. Four weeks after a terrible marathon at London I want to put myself through the whole thing again. This time there will be some splendid scenery to enjoy though. *UPDATE* .. and there was. Wonderful day out. Lots of muddy puddles. Great surface for running on. Slightly disappointed with my time but probably a result of (i) still feeling tired and carrying injury from FLM (ii) have only run 8 miles in the four weeks running up to this anyway, so lowered fitness. Capricorn Very pleased - my 2nd best marathon time after doing my marathon pb only 3 weeks ago. I took a chance at doing very little training in between hoping the training for the last one would get me through this one too, and it seems to have worked.

Great event, despite the puddles on the trail and the weather was better for running than spectating ! I took the dodging-round-the-puddles approach which probably cost a bit of time and effort. In hindsight I should have just run through them as I saw others doing !

I found mile 15-20 the hardest - long, straight sections with the runners very spread out. Was a relief to get to 21m and the downhill sections.

A very enjoyable day.

flanker MY first marathon and what a fantastic experience. And if it wasn't for a dodgy knee between 10 & 17 and cramp after 21 it would have been better still as I still had plenty in the tank at the end. Bodes well for the next one :-) Todmorden Harriers & AC, Trail Running Association, Fell Runners Association, LDWA 3:15:04 4:29:54 4:29:54 45.44
hammerite Wow that was tough, not easy underfoot with all the puddles from this weeks rain, some of them were that deep they smelt like stagnant ponds!

Tried to stick as close to 8's as possible and was doing ok until about 14 miles. 15-20 I really struggled, but then pulled through it at about 20 miles, felt OK and then started coming down with cramp in my right calf, every time I stretched it off it would trigger cramp in my left calf!! Still never needed to walk though.

Pleased with the time, over 30 mins off PB (started watch on hooter, rather than crossing the start line too!), reckon with a road course and full training I can get close to 3h 30. Bedford Harriers AC 3:39:13 3:51:47 3:45:00 3:51:47 52.44
