Running Fish another couple of minutes off the pb, annoyingly close to the 1:20 barrier. good conditions, nice and cool, with only moderate wind, which makes a change for this race, but it does always seem to be a headwind. somehow managed 1st vet, but that needs to be qualified with being behind to 50v's. SparkyMark Lovely weather, despite the sprinkling of snow. Glad I ditched my tshirt before the start, and just ran in my vest, was much more comfortable. Well done to MarkC for his PB. Good to meet KeefyBeefy too. No PB for me today. About 4 mins short. Sore feet and legs not turning over quick enough!! Alchester RC (Bicester) 1:35:01 1:38:43 1:38:43 61.03

Keefy Beefy How's that for a prediction? 1:30:00 to the second - I did say it might be a small PB ;-) I ran as hard as possible but I'm sure I could've eeked out a teeny bit more for 1:29:XX if I'd known how close it would be. It also confirms that my old HM PB wasn't on an accurate course (surprise surprise) because I ran this much harder and there's no way it's was only a 30-seconds-better performance. Should also mention that I met fellow Fetchies SparkyMark and MarkC before the start. Unaffiliated 1:30:00 1:30:00 1:30:00 1:30:00 64.42
MarkC Well, I almost didn't turn up. Awoke at 7am to about 3 inches of snow and a leaden grey sky. I was convinced the race would be cancelled, until the White Horse website confirmed it was on. So I pitched up at Grove and I'm glad I did. Quite a few others opted to stay under the duvet, by the looks of the size of the starting field, but by the time the start gun went off the route was clear as a bell (if wet) and the sun was coming out. More or less ideal conditions, really. I started brightly enough and was on target for the PB all the way through the race but I had this nagging feeling that I hadn't drunk enough beforehand and my legs didn't feel all that fresh. Still, I ploughed on. By Mile 10, though, I was feeling tired and even a little dizzy. Had to constantly gee myself up to maintain my pace and secure the PB, but I admit that I mentally gave up on it here and there. In fact, I had quite a lot of mental demons to confront, especially from Mile 11 to the end. Just felt like harder work than it should have been and I'd convinced myself that I wasn't in full fitness after my recent holiday. My splits for the last four miles show a progressive decline in my pace, which is a tad disapointing. Still, I knocked 2 mins off the old PB (set here last year) and I really should feel more pleased about that than I do. Failed in my Unaffiliated 1:32:59 1:35:18 1:35:00 1:35:18 61.95
Alopex In surprisingly good running conditions on a PB friendly course, I came close to letting myself down (poor preparation). However, sneaked a PB, & confident of a 1:36 in the Autumn. (Good to meet Capricorn too) UKnetrunner 1:37:00 1:37:00 1:36:30 1:37:00 60.86
Capricorn Did this race in 2006 and got current pb (1:45:36) in very windy conditions, so I'd really like to improve on that. **Update** nearly didn't go because of the snow, but glad I did - nice new pb by 5 minutes !! Weather turned out to be perfect - sunny, cold, no wind, and it's a perfect flat course. Unaffiliated 1:35:16 1:40:26 1:44:59 1:40:26 67.72
