Sussex Beacon Half Marathon

anne23 My first half. Don't really know how it will go at all. Basing prediction on my 10 mile time and the theory that I should be able to do an extra 3 miles on top without too much trouble. Need to work quite a lot on endurance before this though I think. UPDATE: went really well. Very pleased with that. Good race. Unaffiliated 1:37:42 1:49:00 1:56:23 1:49:44 58.76

controversial very good run, started a lot faster than expected and managed to keep the pace. Quite windy for half of the way but manage to work with other runners to minimise the impact.
Destroyed my PB by more than 8 minutes and more than 4 minutes faster than my prediction. Clapham Chasers 1:12:46 1:19:16 1:24:00 1:19:16 73.23
Cormorant I ran this in 2006 when it was very wet all day and there was a long haul down the muddy clifftop from Rottingdean. This race was in beautiful weather after a cold start and the new all-asphalt course is probably better: all the same, the switchback sections are a bit dispiriting and on the steep descent from the cliffs you could have played 'Silent Night' on my calfstrings. Finishing time was a few seconds slower than my time in 2006, so at least I'm not degenerating as quickly as I feel I am. Cranleigh Tortoise & Hare Runners 1:35:24 1:40:53 1:50:00 1:47:33 60.42

Ginger N All the FLM training seems to be working, I got three PB's in one race, I went through 10k at 41 mins, 10miles at 67 mins and finished 13.1miles in 88.07!! Thats a huge stonking PB.... a great day and brilliant conditions, and hills weren't that bad at least they were short! Beckenham RC 1:19:36 1:21:17 1:40:00 1:28:07 65.79

gray First step on the build up to Blackheath on 13th April. Lovely day and Brighton looked fairly inviting (the West Pier could do with a bit of attention, though). As usual, there was the odd surreal moment and the prize for the best goes to the bloke in Hove giving jelly babies out from the boot of his car whilst playing Status Quo at full volume. (I didn't dream that did I?) By the way, did someone steal all the mile markers between 3 and 9 inclusive? Cranleigh Tortoise & Hare Runners 1:50:59 1:50:59 2:04:02 51.49

mackfly Barring disaster I should hit this time. My PB was in Bedford on a hilly course with freezing rain. - Update. marginal PB but overall very disappointed with time, big mistake in running to Garmin distances which measured it at 13.28. didn't have a 2nd gear Unaffiliated 1:24:01 1:25:43 1:29:00 1:30:06 64.92

Zehnderboy First attempt at anything over 10K. Felt very good over opening miles so I kept the pace going. Very straihtforward until 9 miles when the course required a few climbs but was able to keep going. Had enough for a fast finish too - very satisfied with my time.
