BlueWombat Probably a mistake, in retrospect. I was attempting 7:40 or so pace and managed that up to mile 9 when I had to stop, go to the loo, and have a breather. Chesty cough was causing problems, not breathing freely, and legs still feeling last Sunday's 50k race I guess. So a PB was not in the offing today :-( Cambridge & Coleridge AC, Cambridge University Hare & Hounds 1:39:42 1:39:54 1:43:26 60.20

Tim of Fife SILVERSTONE HALF MARATHON (Chip - 1:41.09 / Watch - 1:41.09) (762nd of 4801 finishers) (Mile splits -7.20 / 7.37 / 7.54 / 7.49 / 7.48 / 7.50 / 7.56 / 7.45 / 7.44 / 7.44 / 7.47 / 7.43 / 7.28 / Last 0.1m - 0.44)

After a really unexpected PB in the Milton Keynes Half on Sunday, 2nd March, I'd noticed that I took much longer than usual to recover (doubtless because I'd not been 'running long' on the treadie in training).

Perhaps because of this, I couldn't get very motivated about the Silverstone Half. Even on race-morning, I couldn't really raise my spirits and was still 'flat' even as the start gun sounded..

But hey, the weather was really nice by Silverstone standards and there I was, after all, getting to run around one of the greatest Grand Prix F1 tracks in the world. So, 'early doors', my spirits lifted and I just decided to 'run free' (like last week) and have a laugh.

Struggled a bit with sore legs through Miles 8 to 10 - how much of a 'pink and fluffy' gym bunny am I? But got a real buzz when I came back onto the main circuit for the final lap, which kept me going through those last 3 miles. As every year, finishing under the giant Unaffiliated 1:39:33 1:41:09 1:41:09 62.60

Reef What a well run event! Flat as a pancake, a little exposed to the windy conditions. Had a good start and kept a steady pace for first 7 miles (6:07), started to feel it at around 10-12 miles pushed thru but not hard enough to make it under 1:22 next time eh. Thanks to organisers. chumleywarner Ran this last year as part of my FLM build up. I am an F1 fan, so nothing compared with stepping on to the grid for warm up - wow! in 207 we had rain and hail - twice - so I am hoping for better weather next year. Southampton AC 1:27:58 1:30:20 1:30:00 1:30:20 65.02

Thierry 68 I hope to get a new PB as this is my first running year and I expect to improve my PBs each time! I know this will stop one day though!

I am very pleased with this new PB. It has been hard work as I have not been training for 2 weeks due to injury (ITBS - that was 3/4 weeks ago). As a result, I am behind in my preparation for the London Marathon, with a single proper long run (30 km) that was last Sunday. Unaffiliated 1:32:36 1:36:42 1:37:00 1:36:42 61.42

Ruggy Just entered on line 4/3 talk about last minute not realy looking for a PB time but i will still give it my all . A little over dressed this morning it looked like we were in for a down pour before the start so I sliped on an extra layer ( big mistake) great race although it got a little crouded in places, but I still ran inside my expected time so I am Happy. I will comeback next year and see if i can do a little better. Dunstable Lions RC 1:30:17 1:38:15 1:40:00 1:38:15 62.33

koilowe First nine miles fine, close to 8 minute miles. Then R/H calf starting tightening but more worrying had pins and needles followed by numbness in both hands around 12 mile mark, must keep an eye on this.
Happy with time for first 1/2 marathon. Bit windy and very open and not 'flat' but undulating!

Watford Wobble Only my second 'half' but reckon I could post sub 1:50. Bollocks, I had mental sag at mile 8 and didn't have the speed to post sub 1:50. I finished strong and still beat my previous Silverstone PB of 1:52:21 set in 2007. Oh well always next time. Unaffiliated 1:35:49 1:52:09 1:50:00 1:52:09 53.72
