Helegant Dilemma - do I plod round as a training run - which would take forever, or do I get caught up in the race atmosphere and make an effort to go a bit faster to start the year with a baseline time. Plod would be 01:30:00, race could be 01:15:00 or less. Presently (31/12) legs feel as if 01:30:00 would be a good time. 1/1/08 Decided to go for a fast training run - which was to fast on lap 1, great on lap 2 and faded on lap 3. Puffing Bertie Well another smiley race for me......and im still feeling good about it. I just know once i have lost some weight and my head is completly sorted i will be knocking those PBs off :-) I tried to hang on to kitty and her mum but i think it was on the second lap i lost them, but i could still see them....thats the beauty of 3 laps, no one is ever that far away from you even if they are 1 LAP ahead. Slowly But Shirley I'm bearing in mind that despite my best efforts, this is New Year's Day after all ... following a night of a certain amount of alchohol! I don't kid myself that I'll be staying off the drink entirely!! At least it should keep me in check a bit though ... and what a great way to start the New Year off! Update: Loved it and considered it a miracle that I got under the hour with the lack of sleep and more alcohol than intended (oops! New Year's Resolution ...). Went off too fast in 1st lap, flagged a lot on the 2nd and then got a second wind on the the 3rd lap as I was near to finishing (amazing what an incentive that finish line is!).
