Scottish National Masters Cross Country (Men)

bedlam_g 3 laps of a good traditional x-country course with its sharp turns, steep climbs and a decent strength wind blowing in from the sea. I ran really well for the first two laps, tired a little in the third, rather shocked as I crossed the finish line to discover I was just a measly 13 seconds outside my 10k PB. I’d have been really pleased with a sub 40. My Garmin measured the course at bang on 10k so things are looking good. ChrisU Finished 19th overall, and 9th Over 40 in 35:34. My Garmin gave a distance of 9.85km. Got a stitch on Lap 2 and lost contention with the 4 runners in front. Only just clung on with the 3rd lap to avoid getting caught by anyone else. Cambuslang Harriers, Westerlands Cross Country Club, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 34:38 34:40 34:40 35:34 80.41
Cmontheaccies Poor run, struggled with cold last few days and legs were heavy, front two got away at start and i ran race on my own whole way, never got into the race at all. Girvan AAC 29:55 31:51 33:08 81.70

hannkies Not a bad race, if anything didn't push myself hard enough the first couple of laps though. That said I seem to be in okay shape for this time of the year so I won't be too hard on myself. Very well organised event. 35th position. Kilmarnock Harriers & AC, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 34:21 34:42 36:33 75.29

Sunbed Athlete Got 9th place which got me the 4th team placing that counted towards the Gold Medal that Ronhill Cambuslang picked up quite convincingly. We had 6 guys inside the Top 12.Ran the 1st lap far too fast which i paid for in the 2nd & 3rd laps. Was lucky in the end to hold onto the 4th counting place.Me thinks another 250 yrds & i would have been in trouble.
Was 5th Vet35.Not bad for my debut run in the Masters. Can add the Gold Team Medal to the British Team Gold Relay XC Medal i won @ Bathgate last year with Cambuslang. Cambuslang Harriers, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 31:29 32:22 34:10 79.61
