bedlam_g The sticky mud didn’t lend itself to a PB but I’m really pleased with my run. I seemed to get stronger as the race went on and on the second lap I experienced the weird phenomena know as passing people. ChrisU Finished in 40th position, and 22 seconds faster than last year. Cambuslang Harriers, Westerlands Cross Country Club, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 13:50 14:24 76.65
ClaireT Ran over-conservatively with bad memories in mind, of the pain from setting off too fast in this race last year. As a result felt more comfortable but only improved by 18s from last year, most of which was made up in a dramatic sprint finish over the last 300m. I had too much energy at the end and really should have notched the general pace up a few gears. Easy to say that now though. connelld The race started off with a horrific pace. My intention was to maintain an OK pace but try and Keep team Les McDerment from catching me although I never looked round. I could hear someone right behind me and East Kilbrides Graham didn't take long to get by me. By the end of the first lap, Irvine's Jim Sneddon had slipped away from his group and I was steadily catching on. When I got past Jim, I tried to keep my pace going, picking a couple people off. Near the end of the second lap I managed by EK's Graham, but at the end he pushed a sprint finish. I could hear from the crowd that Graham was gaining on me so lifted it just to pip it at the end. Overall pleased with my time although I felt i could have ran better. Kilmarnock Harriers & AC, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 14:24 18:14 16:16 63.59
ian9657 Another new race for me. UPDATE: Quite a large field, all of whom seemed to be in front of me ! Started well and kept in front of 2 other Bellas, felt like packing it in after 1 lap but plodded on. The Bella support confirmed what i thought, someone was close behind me at the end, so i dug in and out sprinted him, David Herbertson who completed the Jack Crawford in 42.19. Also beat Janet Fellowes this time by 42 secs ! Great finish but why didn't i use that strength to increase my pace round the 2 lap course ? That said my ave HR was high@ 79% max and I beat my predicted time (the PB was achieved on a short course). Unaffiliated 15:04 21:34 18:24 18:10 63.65
