Baron Felt quite comfortable all the way, even going up all the hills. Only really got going on the flat though. I've yet to master downhill running. I found tucking in behind runners on a windy day like today is definitely a winner energy saving wise.

The course was quite interesting and there were some good views coming back to the sea front. The spectators were encouraging and the marshalls were good.

I was pleased to crack the 60 minute barrier for the first time today, I'm glad I injected some pace over the last mile(5:35). Now I need to find a good flat course and some friendly weather to take a slice off my PB. City of Salisbury A & RC 58:24 59:37 58:30 59:55 73.44
Blackers800 Not fit yet, and it's hilly so no pb here. But easy HRRL points on offer! ###update ### not a bad guess. Very happy given hills and wind. Southampton AC, Southern Counties Veterans AC 58:04 59:21 59:30 59:21 77.02

eMpTy Just shows what I know !! Due to forecast being very windy just trained right thru to race day and therefore decided just to run it as a hard training run. Checked watch at 9m and realised I was close to PB pace, last 400M difficult against the wind and just missed PB by 4 secs. Hopefully shows FL training is going well. RFJ Ok, 12 safety pin rule...... 8 for the vest 4 for the numbers...... got to the race and found that I had my sons vest.... a bays vest foer an extra large body....... hmmmm. Good job i had a long sleeved top, so used the 8 pins to pin the club vest to it (Hants Road race rules have to have vest).

So anyway after a warm and look at the course, very hilly and very windy it was off to the start and aiming to score point for the club so come home as 4th club scorer or better.

Mile 1 - 7:33 and the first big hill, (BIG) 1st of our runners is away and the second gets me o the hill.
Mile 2 - 7:15 and undulating lets say...........
Mile 3 - 6:54, thats better some down hill and a good pace.
Mile 4 - 7:25 ah another hill and drop ro 4th for club as overtaken by mate.....
Mile 5 - 7:54, Big, THAT blinkin well hurt HILL............. 37:03, oh and all the above seemed into the wind.....
Mile 6 - 6:39 more sodding hills, how many hills are there on the Isle of Wight......
Mile 7 - 7:03 at last a big WWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, thats down hill not a wee.
Mile 8 - 7:12 the first flat part of the course and holding 4th and last scorer for the club still, but looking over shoulder to find rest of club guys..
Mile 9 - 8:02, How long, how hard, how high that was a KILLER.......the biggest hill and Im done for.
Mile 10 - 6:45, suddenly realise that the last mile is all flat, so manage to push it......

1:13:46 cross the line a negative split too by 20 secs, dont know how other than the wind was up our backs for 4 out of the last 5m. Did come in 4th for the club so happy with that too.

Now to Find MRS RFJ and find out why our vest are swapped over........................ (She is still laughing her head off after I told her.....) Hopefully there is no photograph evidience. Swindon Striders 1:02:46 1:05:27 1:10:00 1:13:46 61.13

Windsurfin' Susie Did my best but was unable to push the pace - presumably fatigue. Had a good run in, outsprinting Madeleine and Ros. Windy and cold - not the best conditions. My HR was the lowest ever - a sign of fatigue I believe.
