Ex-pat Scot Weather makes a big difference to this one. Get a nice day and dry conditions, and the paths are a breeze.
Get a day like 9 Dec 2007, and you'll need a snorkel and caterpillar tracks to get through the ploughed muddy fields...

It couldn't be worse than last year, but it was. By quite some way. Easingwold RC, Serpentine RC 8:02:35 8:48:00 8:30:00 8:48:00 51.88

melbas Thrilled to finish this long cold and muddy race, twenty miles further than I've ever been in one go. Enjoyed it until it got dark then struggled as I got cold, seized up and hobbled my way home. Thanks to fellow runners who helped me to navigate over those dark fields. Rockeys mate Very hard work with the rain from over night and all day making the clay soil very heavy to carry around on your shoes. Did the first half on target time of 5 hours then got slower. Difficulty with navigating in the dark on one section. So glad I've done it. 100 Marathon Club, Pudsey Pacers, Leeds & Bradford Triathlon Club 9:41:07 12:15:46 12:15:46 41.23
