Mindspace A wet (but nicely cooling so) afternoon's run. My Garmin 305 tells me I came in at 44:47 and I am still waiting for the official time and placing. I had a tummy bug all week leading up to the event and at one point I did not think I would race at all. I started to feel better the day before the race so went for it, relieved I could at least run but not expecting to hit my target of 44 mins, which I'd been training for with some focus. I used my Garmin to keep to my target pace and was both pleased and surprised with a 5K split of 21:43.....right on course to hit 44 mins or better (I'm usually faster in the second half of races). However, my midweek illness decided to have another bite at me and I suffered stomach cramps in the second half. My energy seemed to disappear and I really struggled just to hang on with an average pace of 4:36 per km. Not surprising really. I tried surging in the last 1km but to no avail, my guts just took it all out of me and I was mildly satisfied (though frustrated at the same time Unaffiliated 44:48 44:48 44:00 44:48 61.63
Richard B After the gun it took me at least 30 seconds to get to the start line. I crossed the finish at 48:36 on the clock but my chip time is also 48:36. I can only assume that the chip didn't register on the start line. My Garmin says 47:59.83. Unaffiliated 48:36 48:36 50:00 48:36 55.31
