Perfect running conditions, had a chat to Heidi M, who I think does look like Puddington but I do wear glasses which I didn’t have on at the time , and RooA who wasn’t running cos she was proper poorly.
Was doing ok till the last kilometre when the wheels came off a bit until I got a shout of “go on Durbat!” which I think was Roo but I was hallucinating at the time so couldn’t be sure, either way it helped.
Interestingly at 49:12 I was 3 seconds slower than last year so was obviously not trying hard enough. Elsombreo and Mrs Elsombreo both had a good runs, just need some brandy sauce for the puddings now

PJL I seem to be a PB machine at the moment, so expecting another here, despite not racing 10k yet this year due to concentrating on a half-marathon goal. What a fantastic day/route/result! A gorgeous crisp, frosty, sunny morning. The beginnings of a cold made me doubt myself beforehand, so I foolishly didn't bet on myself, expecting a time around 40mins. Nice downhill first km got me warmed up nicely and I was into a good rhythm by 2-3km, averaging 3:45/km despite a few undulations. Hit 5km at 18:53 (a PB!), still feeling strong so I knew I'd done enough for a PB. Unexpectedly managed to maintain the same pace all the way to the end, falling into rhythm with another runner from about 6-8km, then spurred on by the leading lady overtaking me between 8-9km - outsprinted her on the final hill. 58th out of 1410. Sombrero Perfect pacing - went through 5K in 21:27, second 5K in 21:17. I can see sub-40 in the future. My best WAVA for years.
