Oxford Town & Gown 10K

Agent Orange A frustratingly good race. Probably my best 10K bearing in mind weather conditions and crowded start. So agonising to be only 6 secs outside a PB (though time seems a couple of seconds longer than I was expecting)! I think the course is probably better in this new arrangement but it was still very very busy at the beginning. So I just settled in and got to half way in 21.56. On the wide roads I'm pretty sure I went a few yards off the racing line (and garmin agrees). Kept it going well in the second half, chasing down Unaffiliated 43:42 43:48 43:48 64.77
Dubbya 18.54 at 1/2 way so spot on pace to dip under 38. However there were surprisingly big gaps after that and I have to admit to a spell of Abingdon Amblers AC, Hillingdon AC 38:39 38:39 37:59 38:39 72.83
El Setho It absolutely chucked it down for the first 3/4 of the race - still set a PB though! Headington RoadRunners 37:42 43:30 43:30 61.42
FurryH After a good two runs at Watford and St Albans 10K's I'm going to give my all and go for a PB. Nice flat course should make the difference. Not sure of the how the new route will effect it though.

Rain helped with PB even if only 10 seconds off last year. Offical time. Watford Joggers 48:08 53:06 52:30 53:06 50.39

iPLOD Wet wet wet. And yes, my Garmin clocked this at 6.28 miles. So happy, as I was aiming for 47.30. Headington RoadRunners 41:39 44:52 47:34 59.18
jamespenfold Wet, not great prep and not great state of mind. Consoling myself with the fact that my Garmin said it was 10.1k. Altrincham & District AC 36:45 38:45 38:45 70.58

leysrunner Its been ages since I did a 10k, This is sure to put me on my back if I try to run flat out, therefore I shall take it easy for 5 miles then sprint the last 1 and a bit. Unaffiliated 39:53 0 41:30 0.00
loobyloo Unaffiliated 1:12:00 1:13:00 1:13:00 43.05
Lyds Smashed my PB by almost 5mins. Am so happy to get under 65mins! Unaffiliated 58:59 1:04:22 1:04:22 47.13
MarkC So near to a PB yet so far. Conditions were poor today but I lacked focus in the last 2 miles. Will come back and have another go at Thame 10k next month. A bit disappointed as I was well on target at 4 miles. Splits drifted badly thereafter. Sorry to those who bet! Have some negative feelings about this race for the first time and agree strongly with those who felt there were too many people on a congested course. Unaffiliated 41:22 41:35 41:00 41:35 66.18

RunLikeTheWind First race back after a long break, just to get me into training mode again. Going to take it really steady.
Ver wet first 3 miles. Otherwise, as predicted. Unaffiliated 1:01:49 1:01:49 1:15:00 1:14:38 47.62

SarahBoots (Solitude_Fairy) Watch time.
Made the course long, went through 10K in what would have been a good PB.
Very wet, but running in the rain suits me. Enjoyed the new course, but found the last 2K hard work.
Nice to bump into Dizzy Tart and Don Bubbles at the start. Unaffiliated 1:01:21 1:01:21 1:01:46 50.28

teddy-o Horrible! Bad weather, crazy start arrangement (many fallers, otherwise having to avoid people) and a twisty-turney course this year. Good to see some Fetchies there, Agent Orange and MarkC and others. Will run this again but they need to reduce the entry limit to 2000.....there were just too many people at the start! That or strictly control the start? Headington RoadRunners 40:13 42:57 45:00 42:57 62.20
