Crumpet Very upset I didn't beat my PB - am putting it down to the fact it was so congested - didn't get into full swing until 5k.
Fantastic race though, the organisation was very impressive. Will be back next year to try and beat that time.

Beaker Very well organised I thought, the only downside being that despite a nice course, the sheer number of people made getting a decent time pretty difficult. Knees seem to be getting a little better, hopefully they are strengthening up and they will last for the Amsterdam Half at the weekend! Unaffiliated 53:33 55:19 1:00:05 44.20

Pierre Really wanted to make sub 45min, but probably haven't done enough training. Forgot to change batteries in mp3 player beforehand, so ran out of motivating music around 4 minutes in! That said, still a PB and still not bad.

Probably the first race I've run while actually bothered about split times and pacing, i.e. the first I've actually competed in, it's made me want to get a watch that I can record splits on and get doing more interval training. Oh, and it's increased my technolust for a new iPod shuffle... ;) Runhead AC 44:34 45:41 45:00 45:41 57.79

Dubois The plan was to run as fast as possible so I finished before week-old-daughter induced sleep deprivation kicked in. Despite the congested start, managed 4:30 km splits for the first 6ks. Must have nodded off up the incline on km7 and lost about 25 seconds somewhere, which ultimately cost me breaking 45 mins despite a late rattle. Well organised, a lovely morning, and ....... zzzzzzz. Badger Very pleased with this as it's a PB by 2m31s, and makes me feel that the work I've put in this year is paying off in speed as well as stamina at last. Hope to break 50m next time. My only serious criticism is that the last few hundred metres are a steep climb- better by far to shuffle the whole course along a bit so that the end is flat, this is just asking for people to collapse trying to hit a target that they're a half minute away from. Start was a tiny bit sluggish but the wave starts mean that it really isn't a big deal for a race of this size. The organisation of this race gets better each year - maybe they'd like to take over the baggage at Bristol Half, they could teach them a thing or two! FERC 46:34 50:13 52:00 50:13 54.99

neems I am dying to get a sub 1hr 10k and the conditions for this one could be good. It's in October so the weather will be cool and I would have just done the GNR the week before so hopefully should be in top shape (just hope I'm not feeling too drained). Come on the South!
*Update*
The South won!! And I got a PB and a sub 1hour!! All is good with the world! Well chuffed with this. I feel I had a little bit of GNR still in my legs and felt maybe a bit more tired than I would have normally, but second half of the race I was feeling really strong. VERY congested for pretty much the whole race, was dodging people, hopping up kerbs, running on grass, then on the road, so that has to have added more time. Maybe another PB for Brighton 10k next month then... Unaffiliated 45:42 55:57 59:00 59:10 50.23
