Alopex Cheeky training race for Prague. Could be a great race but need to tidy up the organisation. Enough has been said about the cock ups but I'll be back. UKnetrunner 1:37:00 1:38:51 1:49:59 1:46:08 55.34

Babyface I think I actually finished this race in under 2 hours but unfortunatley the chip timing was off the gun not off crossing the finish line and I started right at the back.
A flat course with lots of small ups and downs through under passes that I didn't like. Unaffiliated 1:54:37 2:03:38 2:05:00 2:03:38 52.15
Bettsy A pb, but disappointed. I was looking for a sub 1.20 and thought this would be the course to do it, but the wind and cycle paths had other ideas. Not as flat as I had imagined, narrow in parts and a bit too twisty and turny. Chip timing from the gun to finish was also disappointing. Also forgot how sweet the lucozade was - yeuchh. Lost it a bit at 10 miles and had to knuckle down to get through the last 3.1. Also heard that some people had GPS'd it at 13.3!!
Will try for the pb later in the year, maybe at Peterborough. Norwich Road Runners 1:18:26 1:20:45 1:22:00 1:20:45 72.00
BrianJ Nice day for running, though breezy round the lake. Last couple of miles were hard with the little bridges that started appearing - tough on the old calf muscles! Ran round with a friend in a costume training for FLM. Time is my friends GPS as the organisers screwed up the chip timing. If they sort all the problems at the start this would be a really good race. North Herts Road Runners 2:11:44 2:13:05 2:15:00 2:14:16 48.82
ButterflyLou (MrsMothy) No chip mat at end so cheated out of 3 minutes - watch time said 2.18 but official time gives more scope to get a PB on the next one! Werrington Joggers 2:02:05 2:05:57 2:21:00 45.73

Crumpet Beat my PB so was pleased however think I could have done better. Struggled with the headwind and thinking about things too much (if you know what I mean?) Course was nice for Milton Keynes, lots of support and drink stations. Unaffiliated 2:12:15 2:12:15 2:13:00 2:12:15 49.13

fetcheveryone Yay! PB, if only a small one. I am delighted with it though, because it's a big improvement on last months debacle at Wokingham. Started the race with KatieB - and ran on, imagining her as the ghost car from Gran Turismo III, running my old PB - so I focussed on being ahead of her - and it worked. I seem to have a bit of a mental issue from 7 to 10 miles, but once I got beyond that, I toughened up my thinking. Mile 13 was run in 7:01 pace, with plenty of shouting of FERC 1:44:49 1:47:20 1:48:15 53.56

Hebby Good race. Probably started a bit fast but managed to keep it together and I am so chuffed with more than 10 minutes off my pb, shows training hard really does work sometimes. Nice course although there was a long stretch near a busy road that I hated, and no chocolate at the end :( Unaffiliated 1:46:44 1:46:44 2:00:00 1:53:30 56.81

jangles I was going great guns up until the drinks station at 6 miles where I drank a bit too much lucozade sport..and felt sick for the rest of the race.

I said hello to KatieB, Met Tim of MK and was introduced to Fetch... (sorry if I seemed unfriendly, I wasn't feeling too well at that point!)

anyway.. I got the PB I'd promised myself...so not all bad. Redway Runners 1:55:46 1:55:46 1:59:00 1:55:46 57.91

jude Oh yes I WILL do it under 2 hours!!!!!!! everything crossed apart from my legs which I'm running on. :-)

************REVISION***********
Think sub 2 will be tall order given 10k time yesterday. Obviously 8 weeks training wasn't enough!!
So, with apologies to those bettees, revised to 2.08.
**********REPORT**********
Sorry to all those betting. Combination of very stressful week preceding race and stinking cold meant although I did it, it was very slow and very snotty.

Lakes I'm not quite sure what my time was. Well that's not strictly true. As the organisers promised us start line to finish line times I started my watch at the start line and according to that ran 1:56:59. But, I don't think my official time will reflect that. I think that it will be approx 1:59:50 ish ( I missed my name on the computer but finished a few seconds ahead of a chum who ran 1:59:52. So let's assume, until the official results are published, that my time was 1:59:50. Either way a pb. Hoorah!!

UPDATE - Official time 1:59:27

MORE INFO - I sent an email to the organisers regarding the chip timing. For their response please see my blog. Bedford Harriers AC, Rushden Runners 1:59:27 1:59:27 1:59:27 52.13
Lieutenant Lucerne This is my stop watch time. I was expecting chip timing from the beginning, so decided to start some way off from the start line. Alas no starting mats (official time 1:32:05).

Lincsfella full of cold all week, still not right but glad i had a go. bit windy but an average race which was ok. did around 42 mins for first 10k but then backed off... even had a couple of little walk breaks but dont tell anyone. UKnetrunner 1:28:14 1:28:14 1:41:25 58.21
Lycra Hurricane Well, it would should have been 01:51.03 and didn't switch my Garmin on unitil the line, but I am delighted with my result. SUPERWOMAN63 I was looking forward to this run l had a more relaxed mind and was ready for the challenge. The weather was a bit overcast in the early morning but started to brighten up just as we started to run. This was my best race l felt fantastic no stitch, no stomach cramps and l finished feeling very relaxed and happy HOORAY this is what running should feel like, beautiful medal too. taulpaul Good weather if a little windy today - much better course than last time i ran this. Not been doing much training lately so didnt exactly race it hence my time.

Tim of Fife Despite being really 'pumped up' the day before, I woke up feeling really 'flat'. Neverthless, the cardio. fitness was there and I tabbed around happily enough - although the legs 'grumbled' a tiny bit.

The wind made sections of the course hard work, as did a fair few inclines. Training exclusively on treadmills, I don't usually encounter such obstacles!!!

Trogre Had a really bad race - developed a huge blister after about six miles and struggled from there. Nearly stopped at 8. Shuld have done a lot better. Good event though, well marshalled, nice course, and lots of drinks stations. Unaffiliated 1:56:44 1:56:44 2:05:00 2:09:24 44.80
TROSaracen Perplexing race this! Did Blackpool half 2 weeks before on the back of not a lot of training after the obligatory month off due to chest infection and got a surprising 1:36:16. Trained well between the 2 and felt good on the day but did not beat previous time. Have to look at a few factors - heavy training beforehand (was all light before Blackpool), the wind around the lakes, was 2 weeks long enough recovery. Was not as fired up as usual: when I hit 10 miles I usually try to find a bit more pace, mentally this time had no further ambitions than holding pace. Using these halfs to gauge where I am for a 3:30 attempt Blackpool JUne 3rd. Unaffiliated 1:29:10 1:30:16 1:36:37 61.89
