Cookie Started with Kieran but went off too fast - through 3 miles inside 20 miles. Couldn’t keep this pace going and hips began to tighten. Felt I was picking up after 7 miles but slowed in the uphill 9th mile. Felt ok after that but struggled for speed. With 2 to go sensed the finish and picked up the pace. Was closing on Kieran in front. Caught him at 12 miles and ran together over last mile. 7 mins down on last year but I was pleased with performance considering I had not done much distance work. Cracking race and will be back next year.

Kieren *Provisional results up already!!

Met Cookie which was good as we were both about the same pace all the way round. Unfortunately I was well off the target time. Not having run the course before I can't be sure if it's the course or the weather - weather was hot! I have the image of my race vest burnt into me now. Great for spectating but not so good for running.

Not the result I wanted but now I have a time to beat for next year :) It was very pretty & a first for me starting near at the front - I guess all the faster runners are doing the full marathon today - there was only a handful of people for sub-90 - I'll be very interested to see the results 48th /

Also found out why the grey shorts were on sale at Sweatshop - the gusset bit holds all the water from sponges / sweating / drinks & I looked like I'd wet myself -highly embarrassing Serpentine RC, Ealing Eagles Running Club 1:31:11 1:31:11 1:30:00 1:33:55 61.73
GOM. Am taking my watch time agian for this event, offical time was 1:42:23 so about a minutes difference, but both times are still new PB's :o)

Race was tough with the heat and open area's of heath, but none of that really matters as it was my birthday, I had a good day and ran a new PB :o) Ely Tri Club 1:35:20 1:35:20 1:40:00 1:41:27 57.90
Hendo A test of marathon pace for me today - was a surprisingly tough run - hot and hilly. Beautiful scenery though, would have been better appreciated if it was cooler as I cannot stand running in heat!

Nice chatting to RuthB at the start, and dazza very briefly in a rather sweaty changing room afterwards (well done on the PB!). Unaffiliated 1:37:52 1:46:28 2:00:00 2:02:31 47.33
Diogenes First HM. I'm satisfied with that especially giving the lead up to it I had:

Thursday - packing up house and dismantling furniture

Friday moving/unpacking. Fish and chips for tea. Too much beer/wine to unwind at end of day, 4 hours sleep.

Saturday - more unpacking and shifting and rebuilding, friends 40th Birthday party. Pizza for tea & party food , 6 hours sleep.

The race itself was a breeze. Very warm, but it was only in the last mile I started really hurting. Water stations plentiful and sponges useful. Lots of spectators on the course cheering everyone on. Only bad thing were impatient motorists on the semi-closed roads. At one point a motor home turned right where he shouldn't have and then blocked the road so we had to slow down. I managed to squeeze past between vehicles bit other runners were delayed for longer.

Could I have broken 2 hours? Maybe. Next time I will. Unaffiliated 1:46:39 2:04:10 2:10:00 2:04:10 47.83
RuthB2 Training not gone great but hoping to enjoy it!

Quite disappointed with my time here. First half was very hot and very hilly so I slowed down a bit, but then just couldn’t pick it up in the second half. Very pretty race though, well organised, lots of water stations and even hoses in gardens and extra water stations set up outside people’s homes. Stuck behind a caravan at one point which was quite amusing and annoying at the same time!

Met my first fetcher though - chatted to Hndo at the start. These Fetch tops really do catch the eye! Unaffiliated 1:41:29 2:09:43 2:15:00 2:16:50 47.12
