Lady Sol My first race so I wasn't sure what it was going to be like. I only entered because the start was at the bottom of my road.

It seemed fairly well organised. The local scout and guides were drafted in as race marshalls and there was no chance of getting lost at any point in the route.

The route wasn't particularly scenic for the 5K. The route went out of loughborough on a footpath through the housing estate and then alongside a field. The same route was followed back. From the start point it was never going to be very scenic though as there are houses/shops for at least a couple of km all the way around. The 10K runners started off on the same route as the 5K, before carrying on out of the town and into the woods. The 10K faired better with the scenery.

Entry cost was £12 on the day (£10 ten days in advance - but they only put the advertising signs up 7 days in advance). Went towards building a new school classroom. Got some water, a pen and a snack sized mars bar at the end.

An enjoyable first race overall. Got a PB and more confidence for tackling races further away from home.
