Diogenes Head to Head with Sally from Horsham This *should* be a pb, although I know I have disappointed before.

50:18. I am pleased with this. Disappointed not to have broken 50 minutes but not desperately so. I have been training well and have been feeling good, up until Friday, since when I have been feeling drained and achey, like I have a virus coming on. Anyway, met Mac outside the registration area looking beardy, ginger and somewhat Edwardian in his stature compared to the last time we met.

Set off steadily. The plan was to run just under 5 minutes per kilometre for each kilometre, try to get to half way in 25 minutes and then increase pace from then. As well as Mac I was running in the company of another Fetchie, Mag65 and a neighbour of mine who is generally about 5 minutes faster than me. Ant went ahead bit Mac and Mag were on my shoulder all the way up the long hill. At 2k we turned up the steep short hill. I did my best to maintain my cadence and seemed to lose Mac and Mag allthoug for the next 5k I felt like they were breathing over my shoulder. I felt like a target waiting to be picked off. I came through the half way in an watch time of 24:36. It was time to go back uo the hill. I slowed a little but was saving myself for the last 3k, once I got to the top of the steep hill. At the hairpin turn I looked back down the hill and there were no Fetch shirts in sight. Just ahead was Ant, my neigbour. But by then my legs were dead and I couldn't pick up the pace. I maintained about a 5 min/k pace to near the end and tried to accelerate in the last 800m but there was nothing there. I didn't look at the time but was gutted to realise that I had missed 50 minutes by seconds. If I had used Ant as a target I think I would have made the mythical 50 minute mark. I reckon that if I had run this earlier in the week I could have beaten 49 minutes.

Mag65 came in a soon after then Mac arrived looking less like the athlete, nay duathelte, I know he is. I am sure he will be in much better shape for RNR, Siouxsie watch out!

Maclennane Do not bet.
Poor training, only still in it as I chucked a rather silly gauntlet at Dio.
Plan is to find him and grind him down psychologically, mebbe throw a few jelly beans on the ground in front of him.

Well, you get what you deserve.
Well in to Dio who deserved his overwhelming victory. Overton Harriers & AC, R2D2 Hash House Harriers, Whitchurch Hampshire Adventure Race 46:25 52:30 56:14 46.95

Minimag Not a PB, unfortunatly. Met Maclennane and Diogenes, nice guys. Started off at an easy pace on the incline, then slowed down up a short sharp hill. Diogenes pulled away from Mclennane and myself at this point. Finished the first lap at 26:30 so knew a pb or breaking 50 minutes wasnt on the cards. Felt ok at the end, but I seriously need to get off the treadmill and do some hill work.

Time is from Garmin, official time will be about 30 seconds slower. Apologies to all who bet on me. Arunners 47:23 52:21 52:00 53:33 51.97

supermouse Had enough by the time Id done the first lap.
I much prefer races that dont do multple laps as I feel like giving up sometimes when I get to it. This was my worst and I got stich at about 8k going up a hill had to walk for a while which made it even worse.

Not my best at all.

Enjoyed the meal at my Auntie's after though followed by a walk along the sea front.. Southampton Running Sisters 1:02:57 1:02:57 1:06:53 44.92
