Dochart Nearly missed the start of this race, so didn't get a chance to check out the facilities at the race HQ, in a school close to the start. The route starts from the green in Devizes before heading initially on roads in a loop around the south east of the town before turning north and west along the lanes and tracks before returning to Devizes along the spectacular Caen Hill Locks section of the Kennet and Avon canal towpath. The route was very well marshalled and had a number of water and sponge stations along the way. I ran a very disappointing race: nearly late for the start, away much too quickly and suffered and a very hot sun along the way. My grateful thanks to the encouraging spectators and marshalls and, especially, to the runner who incredibly kindly gave me a bottle of his water a couple of miles from home. The banana at the finish was possibly the nicest food I have ever eaten.
