Haddington Half-Marathon

Entrants (9) Club PB SB Pred Time WAVA
Applecross (Updated with real time - now even more gutted!). Very pleased with new PB - hope the gambling fraternity are too! Wasn't sure what to expect as is first 1/2 for nearly a year. Times I can remember: First mile was 7.304 miles - 30 min, 7 miles 53 min, 10 miles 1h16, 12 miles 1h31. First four or five miles were hot and hilly, with little shade - had a definite wobbly moment around 4 miles, but eased into it by 6 miles and most of the rest of the race was fine, despite the headwind from about 10 miles. Felt very serious (think I came in quite far down the field) but course was well marshalled and the abundant water stations were much welcomed . Overtaken by the helpfully-labelled Baza at 3 miles. Baza 2nd time doing this Half and still enjoyed it. Well marshalled and plenty water on route. Happy with time given I've not trained over 7 mile in 3 months. Started at the back and paced the race well.

One thing that annoyed me is the amount of runners who don't listen to the marshals - i.e. the left turn at 8 mile, the marshal was telling you to stay on the left handside, obvously for a reason(possibly the blind summit and corner!). Yet everyone i could see in front was on the right. Myself and 3 others did listen to you lass - well done on doing a good job. Carnegie Harriers 1:23:13 1:27:53 1:40:00 1:36:24 60.14

jp105 Quite pleased to do a PB in this one, wanted to go under 80 mins however the heat got to me slightly in the later part of the race. Also my laces came undone at mile 7 and as I did not want to stop and lose any momentum I had; it was playing on my mind the whole way to the finish!
The course is really good - fast and scenic - im sure at some point I clocked a 5:15 mile.
Plenty of water and support around the great countryside. Carnegie Harriers 1:14:59 1:17:24 1:21:41 70.97
shannon quite hot and hilly for first 5miles then got into a nice pace until a couple of slow miles round 9/10. lots of water though but still felt a bit dizzy at the end in a nice park finish. Garscube Harriers 1:24:36 1:24:36 1:31:36 63.29
