Grid Well, I appear to have taken almost four minutes off my PB, which I can't quite get my head around just yet! Even more unbelievably, I appear to have run the first 5K in 25:13 which is only four seconds slower than my 5K PB of 25:09. What??!

Anyhow. I started pretty close to the front in the orange zone (alongside Cavey) but set off *far* too quickly, despite a bit of congestion just after the newly-located start. Having realised this after 1.5K I tried to slow myself down a bit, but with only some success. I was pushing a too hard for my liking and I was feeling it as a result, but by 5K I found I was still keeping this pace up without feeling as though I'd get in to trouble later. At this stage I knew that I was in for a really good time, and so just tried to keep it up. I managed this, and still had something left for the difficult hilly bits at the end.

My splits: 4:33, 5:04, 5:11, 5:14, 5:11, 5:11, 5:13, 5:19, 5:23, 5:32 + 44 (Garmin measured 10.2K) Bournville Harriers 45:33 52:36 56:00 52:36 50.21

Felt reversed course was much harder than last year, unless it is my terrible memory.
Last km was a killer with that hill.
Garmin measured 6.3 for me, cost me a sub 45 ;-) Heaton Harriers & AC 39:45 45:34 45:15 45:34 65.58

Nephi Last minute oppertunity to run Great Yorkshire Run with Bryn. Took it as a training run and stayed with him.

Enjoyed the cruise round, better than Manchester with plenty of space right from the start to get into a rythm. Route was a bit boring though.

Paul W Position 743 overall, Age group 15th, gender and age group 13th, male 681st. Did a PB, which is good, but had hoped to trun a little quicker. Wanted to go under 47 mins if possible. Played cricket day before, so wasn't fully rested and legs ached so much night before that I wondered if I might be coming down with something. Had carbo gel just before start. Took a Lucozade Sport drink round with me and had water at 5k. Start was not good as it was very crowded early on and difficult to do a proper warm up. Ran first 3K with Ben but then he slowed down. After slow start was always playing catch up. Felt ok during middle part of race (and lap times back this up) but found it tough towards the end - even walked on last hill (disgraceful). So, one or two excuses, but basically didn't run fast enough. According to Garmin it was 6.3 miles! perhaps that didn't help either. Ran 4.25 miles on way home as a recovery run and to keep my mileage up. Laps 7.59, 7.37, 7.26, 7.27, 7.15. 7.19 Unaffiliated 45:18 47:32 47:00 47:32 65.84
