Race Jase GER. Get in there. :-) Started to really work in the eighth miile and wasnt sure I would hold on. In the end I think it was a very slight negative split, but my word I was fighting at the end! :-) Really quite proud. brotherjohn Ran well upto 10 miles, my 3rd fastest ever within a HM, but lost it a bit in the last 5k. They changed the course this year and it came out much longer than in the previous 4 years, so if you believe the Garmin I actually ran faster than last year. Watford Wobble Will review what I'm doing regards pace later in the year. 12/10/2012. After having a cold and sore throat I'm not expecting much from this race other than complete under 2 hrs. Having run Nottingham 50k Ultra last week this will more or less be my last race of the year. Just a case of having some fun. Never going to happen what with the cold taking longer to recover from. photogirlruns A PW but pleased to i) start & ii) finish after a summer of injury that meant I hadn't run more than 8.5 miles in training... Great start, started slow as planned, upped the pace around mile five, as planned, held on until about 8 miles until the right knee seized up & I had to drop down to 10+ min/miles. Mile 13 was agony but I knew if I walked I wouldn't get going again, so in true Marathon Talk stylee I zipped up the (wo)man suit and made it in under 2 hours. 9 mins slower that target but under the circumstances I'm pleased. Love this race every year, fantastically well organised, good support along route, great cakes at the finish line and to top it off it's where my Mum & Dad live so I get my own personal support crew handing me drinks at the halfway point!
