shannon Dropped off at 8:45am by Mrs S for this wee cracker. Official gun time from a near the back start - v quick turnaround time for results. What a fantastic set up for a Saturday morning regular wee race. I was thrillled to see Eyespy21 at the start after she spotted me and offered a lovely welcoming hug. It was great confidence boost for the run ahead with YoungWallace (YW) as my wingman. YW and I set off with the masses at the back, so it was a nice easy pace and felt just about right. It was, as YW had warned me, quite an undulating course for a returning warrier such as me, but he took me round with full warning and amusing commentary. I got a tiny bit wobbly at halfway, which indicated to us that I should err on the side of caution and take my walkbreak as per the training 3 mile tempo runs. A drink of YW's water was nice too. With an easy pace and welcome walk break it left enough in the tank for the usual big shannon finish. On the course near the end and at the tunnel walk in, it was lovely to see my good mate (Bella runner) from work and her hubby that came out to watch. Overall the morning went very well and YW was top company and great support. RL and ES21 put on a great show, sparing lots of hours of their time for the good of many others - thanks. I am very pleased to get a race in for 2010 and of course not end up in hospital. :-) I would love to do this every week but alas it's probably a bit too much for me (with lack of direct transport and very early for my head). Mrs S (ilonabean) seems impressed with the set up so that could be a possibilty as that's a lift there and back and a nice soft race pace. Will have to encourage her do some training but the C-S recovery and lying down breast feeding is still taking its toll. And of course it's a big consultation for my head at the Beatson this Tuesday.
