daviec Pretty disappointed with the race. Started well, held back as planned. First two miles in 6.29, 6.29. Started to move through the field as the fast starters came back from there to mile 8 and was bang on target for a 1.24.30 as per my garmin. it promptly got lost in the trees on the way back from Dailly and said I was 0.1 mile ahead but the mile markers said otherwise. Lost some time there but made it back up on the way down to Hawkhill and at mile 10 I was still dead on and feeling good. Tried to change up a gear but it wasn't quite there so was happy to settle for 1.24ish but just at Old Dailly and the water stop something happened. The guy who'd run on my shoulder since mile 6 moved ahead and I tried to go with him but the legs just didn't have it. I watched as he moved off and I fell further behind my target. Just outside the town Connell surged past with a really strong finish and again I had nothing . Finished in a poor 1.26. Same as Stranraer after 6 weeks of what felt like good training. I don't know what went wrong as I've had plenty of long runs, medium runs and longish tempo runs.

Still for 11 miles I was running well, picked up 1st team prize with Girvan, and I won the first local title and got a cracking wee glass trophy for it. I'm moving on to a P&D 12 weeker for Loch Ness but my confidence is shot and I think I'll need to improve dramatically between now and GSR in September if I've to have any sort of shot as sub 3 in October.

Well done to race winner Steve Wylie, Kerry in 2nd and well done to the club for putting on a great race and they were rewarded with a cracking turn out on the day. Carnegie Harriers 1:17:05 1:23:22 1:24:30 1:26:40 66.91

Hamsterwheel Had a good race but it was a struggle at times near the end but with a goal of breaking 1 hr 30 at the back of my mind i pushed on and finished with under a minute to spare. Girvan AAC 1:29:15 1:29:15 1:30:00 1:29:15 65.32
Sunbed Athlete Was slower than last year but didnt taper for it so was expecting a slow time.Knew that the best I would get was 2nd & thats exactly what I did get.Cmontheaccies took the local glory this time round as race winner but no matter how little this guy says he trains he can still record decent times as he generally talented & gifted.
Went into 2nd place around the 2 mile mark & ran steadily all the way to home.Took team prize along with Cmontheaccies & DavieC who took 1st local.Got £30 + £20 in Asda vouchers.Goody-bag decent too.The minute silence before the race for my pals wife was greatly honoured followed with a round of applause which brought a tear to my eye.
