Marcus Wow what a clammy day! Enjoyed this run after a sensible start - it was a blast from the top of the pass and I enjoyed the descent hugely. Thankfully it cooled down a bit on the way down.

21K though, are they having a laugh? It wasn't even 20K! Got to expect some vagueness re: distances off the road but a missing 3/4 mile is hard to explain! Vale Royal AC, Fell Runners Association 1:24:12 1:28:52 1:54:51 52.06

Lisrun Very tough course, but as the organisers claim, it was scenic. The climb up to Garburn Pass was steep and long and I managed to take 14 minutes to cover 1K ! Early on I had to queue to get through a small gate and this added over 5 minutes to my time and spread the field out. Good fun and good to meet some Fetchies. 100 Marathon Club, North East Marathon Club 1:42:36 1:48:01 2:30:00 2:18:56 49.35

tramps Fantastic course with the toughest opening mile I've ever known. The 2000 metre climb over the Garburn Pass is surely unrunnable for mortals. Anyway, it beat me this year but I will have my revenge.

Amazing downhills over treacherous, loose-slate terrain sorted the men from the boys, as 50+ runners sped by me.

Tannoy, marquee, ice-cream, burgers, free soup, beer, t-shirts, Pete Bland stall, face painting, climbing wall, bouncy castles, kid's fun run after the main race had finished, elite athletes (the top Britons in the last two London Marathons) and spot prizes - All races should end like this. Fantastic effort by the organisers. Saffron Striders RC 1:30:31 1:30:31 2:00:00 2:00:57 48.81

SPKoF Complaints: actually 12.4 miles. and my god was I grateful at 12.3 to hear the band.
No water at the 1st water station - inexcusable. They havent learnt from running out at Hawkshead then.

The good: Quite frankly the best best ever. Very tough but very rewarding. Nice to square the series with Phal who blames it all on the queue for the stile. Thats just inexperiene - if you know there is a stile early on you go for it to avoid the queue! Also chatted to 2 non-fetchshirt wearing fetchers. Quakers? and Tramps like us. Tramps was complaining he wasnt built for hills but I only passed him at 12.2 miles and I was happy with my time so he's obviously a natural.

A perfect way to end a long weekend camping in the lakes.

When is Coniston again...........?

The Juicer Super day out. A bit warm to start with, but I'm sure it cooled down. I thought my time was out the window when I had to queue for 8 or 9 minutes after a mile at the first stile, but maybe the breather was good for me, as I felt I went from strength to strength after that. Felt strong on the ups, average on the downs (which is better than usual), and had a good finish. Met some lovely people on the way round too, but don't know if they're Fetchies. Runtrue Felt harder than last year & I was 5 mins slower. Need to work on the hill training a bit more I think!

Kev Scone Well it seemed like a good idea, only 2 weeks afterr debut Marathon, can be my warm down. However someone talked me into doing a club X country & a shor but fast fell race, and a few sprints at local sports this week so now quads and hams very tight may drop to challenge. Will be happy with anything under 3 hours really.
**UPDATE** A Happy bunny, boing, boing, many thanks to deep heat and ibuprofen, dropped to the challenge and expected to be a DNF or walking it, however took first 10k very steady (70mins) then attacked the pass with gusto, turned off the brain on the downhills and struggled up orrest head and through the woods for a very respectabletime, then got to see all my loovely fetchie friends finish :) Howgill Harriers 1:48:39 1:52:53 2:40:00 2:16:13 42.68
DANBERT To be perfectly honest I found this race to be a complete ordeal. The humidity made the run feel like torture from the off. The first climb from the start in Staveley over Reston Scar was a real shock to the system to begin with (and certainly not all runnable for me.) In fact I was actually glad for what would normally have been a frustrating 8 or 9 minute wait at a style. There then followed some flat and good running to Kentmere Hall (which would have been pleasant under different weather conditions.) I found the Rochdale Harriers & AC 1:34:36 2:26:00 41.94

Stepford Wife Last year 2 53. This year? Two weeks after a mara which is not ideal but life's like that. So hopefully a bit quicker than last year but probably not by all that much. Which just gives me an excuse to do it again next year.... *Update* Ha! Nowhere near... after 3 kms I knew it wasn't the day for it so waited til N caught me up and we had a pleasant day out in the countryside with the odd bit of jogging thrown in. We still beat Dave A though so that's some kind of record for a start Fell Runners Association 2:26:24 2:26:24 2:45:00 3:10:15 34.22
