clairevmc Delighted to even finish this as last night my right knee and both legs were still very painful. New course from when I last ran this. Horrible twisty first mile then through town and onto cycle path. Knee and legs felt ok despite fall on Friday but set off at a conservative pace just to be sure. 6.40 then 6.35, 6.40, 6.30, 6.20 then hit the hills! The course went mental at about half way with really quite a steep hill and from mile 8-11 back along the cycle path it was a continual incline, the benefit of which I hadn't noticed on the out part of the course. Pace really dropped then although no-one passed me after mile 3 and I passed almost a dozen runners right up til the finish. Effort level felt like pb pace and was on for 1.24 finish (just outside pb) until the hills sapped my pace. Felt as though I would have benefitted from a better taper - was tired in the opening miles. Would do this again as a B-race. 10th female. ClaireT First half marathon in two years. Been unable to train properly this year due to injury but gave it a go anyway. Slowest ever time! Felt quite unfit and clunky. A nice flat untwisty course would have suited me better! Missed my target time of 1.30 but we won the team silver for Scottish Athletics HM Champs. Just good to be racing.
