Grey Badger Well organised event, just a pity i ran so badly. Had decided to use this as a training run for next weeks GNR. Took it steady first 2 miles but even at that stage i knew i had no power in legs even at that relatively easy pace. From mile 9 to the finish it just felt like i was running through treacle. Fergus Good race today. Weather was better than predicted but still breezy. Started off reasonably sensibly as I had no idea how fast I could go and was a bit uphill at first. Long slow downhill for a few miles then and felt OK at 7.30ish so decided to try and stick with it. Tough hill at 4-5 miles into the wind and downhill too steep to help much. Flattish on the way back in. Very happy with my time as I was really aiming for 1.42, 1.40 optimistically. The race was well organised and interesting goodybag but no medal :-(

susietwoshoes What a change weatherwise from last year, it was rather hot today. The view of Criffel and the Nith was stunning. I enjoyed the race,( but I may be a bit biased as Dumfries is my running club), I thought it was a great day. The tea and biccies at the end were especially welcome (and they were free always a bonus to us Scots).
For me it wasn't the climb past the kennels that got me, it was the one just past Kelton, that one really sapped my legs.
The next water stop was a very welcome sight. So also was my husband who was marshalling and cheering me on. Dumfries RC 2:23:09 2:24:00 2:24:59 49.75
