Chaz Hmm, a 30.18 or 30.19 depending on how the timekeeper is feeling. Happy with that 3 days after the race which made my year. Mile markers were well out, but for once I didnt care. Just enjoyed the racing without ever properly maxing it PB style - Head and body were not quite up for it. That said, a fantastic night, wouldnt change a thing about the race, thanks for betting, sorry I couldnt return any credits. Well no I'm not sorry really, you'll just have to bet more carefully in future wont you? Lamb Balti and wine going down very well.... Wootton Road Runners 29:44 29:47 29:40 30:20 69.73
E Very nervous about this race as it could be the last in my quest for my bronze award but only if I achieve the right time. So as I always hate racing I hated this one even more.

On the night I just wanted to go home before the race, feeling sick and not looking forward to it at all. When we got going the first mile felt really bad, felt a bit dizzy and the first mile marker was in the wrong place which didn't really help as didn't know if I was pacing correctly. But then I heard someone's Garmin bleep the first mile, I looked at my watch and immediately felt better, my pace was OK.

Then to my surprise I really enjoyed the rest of the race the miles seemed to tick by quite quickly and it was soon over. Very pleased with my time and had a great time at the BBQ afterwards. Bedford Harriers AC 41:44 41:44 43:35 41:44 62.44

Lieutenant Lucerne I haven't run a 5 mile race for two years and I have improved quite a bit since then. A real possibility of a significant reduction in my PB (so long as I stay injury free before and during the race). ***update*** the race went better than I had expected. I settled in to a good pace early on. I was very surprised at my time for the first mile, but then realised the marker was about 250 yards too early! After 3 miles there were a few short hills, but having kept a bit in reserve I was able to push on and even overtook 4 or 5 runners in the last half mile. Pleased with my time (as per my watch - the official time might be a second or two slower). Unaffiliated 30:54 33:07 34:00 33:07 69.53
Lycra Hurricane Should pb for this....and did! A good race in which I felt good. Dipped my pace on the hills but reached my target of under 40m Bedford Harriers AC, Rushden Runners 39:15 39:43 40:50 39:43 61.43

Nightjar Club championship race - not that I expect to win, but you have to put in a bit of effort. Don't know if I can really do 7 minute miling for 5 miles but one can only try. **** Well I tried! Pleased with the result given recent injury. Started with 6.45 per mile but I slowed in the middle stages averaging 7:19 overall. Bedford Harriers AC, LDWA 36:28 36:50 35:00 36:50 61.05
No.8 ™ Woohoo - 8th overall, 1st in the Club Champs and the race strategy worked out almost perfectly. Physically the Thursday night and Friday morning off probably helped and mentally I was well where I needed to be and didn't waver at all.

The plan after running the course on Monday night was to tow along to 3 miles (all pretty flat) with a pack, stay out of trouble and conserve energy, then to break on the hills (from 3 to 4.5m) and pick off as many as possible.

In reality, sat behind a pack of 4 that took me through the first mile in 5:36, the second mile in 5:37 and the third in 5:43, as soon as the incline started at 3 miles I broke and left all 4 behind and steamed the hills, also taking another runner further in front who was slowing on the hills. Through mile 4 in another 5:42, was with 2 other runners but couldn't take them, as it flattened out for the last 0.5 mile they pulled away for a sprint finish, leaving me, I clocked the 5th and final mile in 5:45, finishing 8th overall and comfortably in front of 9th place.

Race strategy went according to plan, pacing considering the hills in the second half was also very good, the only minor gripe was that I was hoping for a placing in the county champs, sadly I missed out on that. At last a good race, another peformance when it mattered. Unaffiliated 27:27 28:41 28:41 74.58

Silvershadow ***STOP PRESS*** Solution worked! 98% certain to start.
Despite accident on A428 and roadworks on the approaches to Cranfield, I made it to the start and thought I might as well give a PB a go. Ran all the way with another beginner, encouraging her all the way. It was good because it kept me going too and we did it!!!
