#runningman 🏃 Hot hot hot !! That sums this race up as any aspirations of a fast time wentbout of the window due to the 28 degree heat. GimmeMedals Really struggled with the heat and the hills. Note to self - must do more hill training, living in such a flat part of the country!!!! I was pleased to get round inside 3 hours without needing medical intervention bearing in mind the heat, which was taking it's toll on a number of other runners. But way off my predicted time. Go-KL Coventry Half Marathon. First run of any note since the London Marathon, feeling pretty out of shape and nervous about state of affairs with hip. Got stuck at the start a minute behind the gun and so was very slow for first half mile before road widened and was able to get in my stride. Right hip and groin niggled from the off but was bearable. HR was high but running felt comfortable, and was treating the event as a training run rather than a race. All was ok to about six miles when right groin suddenly started aching and stiffening up. Was able to run through it to 9 miles (Top of Gibbet Hill) when pain mysteriously completely went away for 3 miles, only to resurface again final mile. Going was tough in final few miles with the heat but think I coped better than those around me (Wasn't really stressed at all). Didn't make an attempt to sprint the finish.
