wizlyn Not a great race for me - felt I could/should have done better. Last 3 miles were fastest of the whole race... started steady, fell asleep coming back down the portway, so slow 6-9 miles then picked up the pace to finish comfortably. Still placed well, so not that bad!do think this is a bit slower as a course than reading, which is where I've set my PBs, so maybe shouldnt compare directly. SuperSooks Another minute off my PB, hooray! Went off perhaps a bit too fast, got a stitch around 2-3 miles, but managed to banish it fully by concentrating on breathing properly. Great organisation and I enjoyed the scenery along the gorge, though the bends, cobbles and undulations in the last few miles were less welcome ;-) Winchester & District AC 1:25:26 1:25:26 1:28:00 1:27:35 73.70

Shufflepuck Café My goal was to beat 100 minutes but I was astonished to get a time of 92 minutes.

For this race I had a large spaghetti bolognese two nights before, and sausage and bread the night before with a couple of cans of guinness. Two and a half hours before the race I had two bits of toast and houmous, coffee and orange juice.

In the race my splits between 4 and 8 miles were consistently ahead of what I'd planned, and after 8 miles I felt strong and quickened the pace through to the end. Unaffiliated 1:32:21 1:32:21 1:39:00 1:32:21 62.78

theraithrover Enjoyed a good run, easily running a PB by about 8 mins. Conditions near perfect and I thought well organised. There were some people moaning about not being allowed in the 'wave 1' group (even though they were wearing 'wave 2' numbers) but for me it worked to my advantage. Lining up at the front of the second start allowed me to get away from any congestion which I would have no doubt faced had I been towards the back of the start of the first start. smash Not the best preparation, up most of the night on Friday with a bad belly. Saturday I tried to chill but ended up doing DIY. Felt ok on sunday morning, but the illness must have taken a lot out of me as the race was awful. Really bad, loads of walking. Eventually finished in an official time of about 2:26:35, a PW. Poo.
The first five miles or so were ok, a bit quicker than planned but not too strenuous. I started to really struggle on the way back into town, ironically downhill. I did stop briefly to get help for a fallen comrade. By the time 9M came it had all ceased to be fun. It was nice to speak to a couple of fetchies on the way round; apologies for the garbled conversations - I become vague when tired!
The last three miles were hellish. The hills did not help. My back was killing me, my legs ached and I felt completely empty. I tried to put a bit of a spurt on for the last mile, but ended up walking again. And the finish was around a bend, so I couldn't see it untilI got to it. Was really disappointed with my time, at 9M I was on for a 2:10 finish. I dislike running today. Pegasus RC 2:04:53 2:11:43 2:20:00 2:26:35 44.00
